ABOUT

Join us on our unique and true nature hike to the summit of the bird mountain (Fuglefjella), where we hike through the massive valley of Bjørndalen. This area is known for her rich flora and fauna where we are able to observe wildlife like the Arctic fox, Svalbard reindeer, little auk and other birds.

Our tour starts at 08:30 (am), where our guide will pick you up from your accommodation. We will drive along the coastline to the beautiful valley of Bjørndalen, which is the starting point of our full-day wilderness hike.

From here we will make our way through the valley of Bjørndalen towards the steep climbing part of Fuglefjella. Along the way we can enjoy the amazing scenery we are in. Don’t forget to look back and listen to the sound of the little auk colony on Platåberget. We will go down into the valley to reach the river delta.

Depending on the season and conditions, we either can cross this river delta just by our own shoes. Some moments of the season we would need to wear waterproof gaiters, which we will provide, to make it to the other side. Once we have crossed the river we will hike for a few kilometers before we will start making our way to the top of Fuglefjella. This is the hardest part of our hike, where we will ascend 300 meters over a 500 meter distance. The rewards lies on the top of the mountain where you will be able to enjoy the view over the Isfjorden! Throughout our day, we will have plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, stop for warm expedition lunch and hot drinks and constantly be on the lookout for wildlife.

This tour will take approximately 8 hrs and is about 12-14km with 400m elevation.

Included
Our professional and dedicated guide, warm expedition lunch, hot drinks and sweets, rescue insurance, emergency and safety equipment, transfer to and from your accommodation.
